HIROMEI is a building materials manufacturer that will celebrate its 50th anniversary since its founding on March 10, 1976. Until now, we have been manufacturing and selling materials for chests of drawers and furniture, which have been manufactured in Fuchu Town, Hiroshima Prefecture, for about 300 years, as our main products. However, amid the decline of furniture manufacturers due to the bursting of the bubble economy in the 1990s and the shift away from traditional wedding furniture, we shifted our focus to interior building materials, expanding our sales channels to general contractors, builders, housing manufacturers, and kitchen manufacturers to carve out new opportunities.Now, amid the current downturn in the Japanese construction industry, we feel we have reached a crossroads where another shift is necessary. With hopes for untapped overseas markets, we have created Radial Square, a product that embodies our passion for wood. We aim to share our desire to fully utilize and give new life to the wood we handle with people around the world who share a peaceful heart. Radial Square is a portmanteau of “Radial,” referring to the radial cracks in tree rings, and “Square,” referring to the square shape. The surface material of Radial Square is an upcycled artwork created by transforming scrap wood that was destined for disposal into veneer through processing and assembly.
